In case you didn't know, I live in a railway town. Well, not right in the town, but on the lake across from the town.

Anyway.

Yesterday afternoon was a beautiful sunny winter day in MacTier. We'd had a dump of snow the night before so there was a festive mood in the air. I heard that the Holiday Train was coming into the station later in the day so I thought I'd stick around, buy some anti-freeze at Wayne's World, a coffee at the Country Style (what a line up!) and then saunter down to the tracks to see what the fuss was about.

Talk about exciting! Though the train was about 45 minutes late (well duh, it's a train in Canada!) and the snow started falling and our toes started freezing, it was worth the wait. This train has been running coast to coast (-ish) since 1999 to entertain the kids, get the train enthusiasts off, and raise money and food for the foodbank (you can find out more here.)

And where there's reindeer, there's Santa...in a puff of smoke and a backing band!

At the end of the day, a good time had by all. And then we went home and shovelled snow. Grrrrr...
