Up by Bunnahabhain (try saying THAT 10-times fast!) is the tasty, yet unpronounceable Caol Ila. I'm not dislexic, it's not made from coal. In fact it has nothing to do with coal. Caol Ila is Gaelic for "The sound of Islay." And I don't mean the sound as in noise, racket, rap or jazz fusion. It's the sound of water. No, not the rippling, wavy sound of water, I mean the sound as in a wide body of water... Oh what the hell. Caol Ila produces a nice single malt, but mostly it sends its peaty fair to Johnnie Walker and Bell's who add it to their blended whiskys. I've said too much. Here are my peeps at Caol Ila:
Across the sound from Caol Ila is a little island called Jura that has more sheep than people (700 to about 160 I think.) But of course they have a distillery and that's all that matters.
