One of those dumb days Do you ever have one of those thoughts that should just stay inside your own little brain? I don't mean something that might incriminate you, or something that might embarrass you, that you should just keep to yourself. I mean a thought that only makes sense to you.
Yesterday, for instance, was one of the world's stupidest days. Coming up the elevator into work, I had this premonition that the boss was going to be waiting at the door to take my pass card and send me unemployed on my way. I mentioned that to someone at work. She laughed. Ten minutes later, six co-workers were called into a room and were handed their walking papers.
But wait, this isn't what I was talking about.
That same night, a friend came by - a friend recently unemployed by another company in this stupid fricked-up industry. We ate Thai food, talked about the fricked-up world and watched television. Flicking through the channels, we came upon the last half-hour of "Born Free," you know, with Elsa the lioness? I was all teary-eyed, some kind of kitty-catharsis I think, and my unemployed friend said:
"You know, I always thought that lion cubs look like Peter Sellers."
Ummm.
"Oops, that's one of those things that I've thought of forever but never really put out there. And I don't mean lion cubs always look like him, just the profile."
Ummm.
"Well, I suppose it's me, but there you go, it's out there."
And there really wasn't much more to say after that on one of those stupid dumb days.
