The Highschool Dance
When I was in highschool, this was the set list for last half hour of any highschool dance night:
- Happy Days theme song
- Meatloaf: Paradise By The Dashboard Light
- Manfred Mann: Blinded By the Light
- Bee Gees: Stayin' Alive
- Donna Summer: Last Dance
- Rocky Horror: Time Warp
When I came home from a restaurant last night, the local highschool was in its last set of a Thursday night dance. The music went something like this:
- That 70's Show theme song
- Cyndi Lauper: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
- Madonna: Like a Virgin
- Bee Gees: Stayin' Alive
- Ricky Martin: Livin' La Vita Loca
- Rocky Horror: Time Warp
In 1977, I was 17 and Happy Days (a show about the 50's) was still kinda popular. Today, That 70's Show is popular... it's about 17-year olds in 1977, and the grandmother in the show is played by Happy Days' Marion Ross (Mrs. C.) There's a time-space conundrum in there somewhere that keeps me up at nights. Or maybe it's just the loud high school dance music.
