Mashed marketing with gravy You know me, the constant critic, the mass media, mass marketing cynic. I've never watched The Shopping Network. I don't have an mp3 player or text messaging. Hell, I don't even have cable... ish.
But once in a while, along comes a product that sweeps me off my feet. A tool so important to my way of life that I can't bear to live without it. And I think it started as a joke.
You know those Starfrit commercials for products that slice, dice, chop and grind with no mess? You know the one where you can peel your vegetables in a quick rotary gizmo? Well, my sister-in-law got me one for Christmas. It was kind of a joke gift, but goodness knows she's well aware of my potato passion. I took it home and tried it out. And you know what? It works! It's awesome! The potato peel comes off in no time! I can have mashed potatoes every night of the week with no bother!
And talk about vegetables! Or should I say "vebetables" as it says on the box. (Did you know that in a Google search for "vebetable," there were 41 results? Holy typo!) I can do my own carrots so I don't have to buy the little expensive pre-cut carrots in a bag. Beets? Oh ya. Don't know about turnip, which is fine because I hate turnip. And I'm going to see what it does with peppers too. Though that could be a real mess.
Anyway, the potato is the big thing. Yum yum yummy! A product for all your vebetable needs. A vebetarian's dream. Go Starfrit!
