TROOPER
Tied with the Stampeders. So why do they win? Well this Stampeder voter tipped the scale:
Sweet City Woman may have been their big hit, but the real reason the
Stampeders deserve to win it all is the track they had on the official
Montreal 1976 Olympics Team Canada fund-raising compilation album.
It was called "Then Came the White Man," and it originally appeared on the
group's big *From the Fire* album.
But on a federally-sanctioned vinyl lump of sweet goodness and charity, it
took on a remarkably unsubtle PC stink that remains in my nostrils even
now, some 25 years after the fact.
So clearly, in the event of a tie, we blow off The Stampeders because of this "federally-sanctioned vinyl lump." (Editor's rules.)

APRIL WINE
Another close one, squeaking past the 5 Man Electical Band by one vote.
As one Pigdump visitor said:
They are the only band I know with a train warning bell in it. Reminds me of my days living next to the Port Credit Go station. The dream match-up just has to be Trooper head to head with April Wine. But where is A Foot in Coldwater?
All in good time, dear Pigdump visitors, all in good time!Vote: trishatpigdumpdotcom |
