Oh those nutty Canadian seasons

[This is NOT -- I repeat -- NOT a Top 100 Albums entry.]

There's a stereotype that we are all snow all the time.

terry jacks

And there's a suggestion that one of our own, Terry Jacks, wrote one of the best songs about seasons.

Well if you thought either of those things, you'd be WRONG!

Terry Jacks wrote new lyrics about "Seasons in the Sun" to a classic Jacques Brel song, "Le Moribond." Kinda like that skanky, Canadian disco queen, Patsy Gallant, took Gilles Vigneault's beautiful "Mons Pays" and turned it into the hideous, "I'm a Star in New York I'm a Star in LA."

But that's another story.

Back to the seasons.

No, we're not all snow. If you haven't been paying attention, here is the sequence of seasons in Canada... well, in MY part of Canada anyway. Again, if you don't know, Canada is really really big. It's big-ass big. With several jet streams and oceans and all sorts of other weather-affecting details like trees and tundra...

Ahem.

The Canadian seasons:

Hockey season
Winter
Snowy "can't stand freezing my ass off" cold season
More winter
Teasing hint of spring
Winter
Teasing hint of summer
Winter
Spring thaw
Flooding season
Spring
Black Fly season
Teasing hint of winter
Hockey playoff season starts
Summer
Mosquito season
Hot hazy humid "can't stand the heat" melt down season
Hockey playoff season ends (Toronto still doesn't win The Cup™)
Yellowjacket and hornet season
Hint of fall but no bugs season
Hockey pre-season
Fall
[repeat]
Hockey season
Winter
Snowy "can't stand freezing my ass off" cold season
More winter......

So now you know.

Thanks and good luck.
