Canada's next great Prime Minister? Pulease!

CBC Television has great timing, eh?

4 prime ministers

I'm not sure how many of these programs the network has run, but I do know this: they had a hugely difficult time getting contestants for the show. Well no kidding? Who would WANT to be Prime Minister? We're in a freaking depression!

PMS sure wants it though (that is our old helmet-headed friend, Prime Minister Steve). He wants it so badly that he keeps shooting himself in the foot. He wants the position, the power, but he doesn't realize that integrity and openness are needed to be a good leader, not just smarts. This man is NOT a leader. He's a bully who is out of touch with the changing world. In fact at a Conservative meeting the other day, he was asked what being a Conservative means. He said it's about looking after the three Fs...Freedom, Family, and Faith. UGH!!!! Hey Steve, don't you know Bush is gone?

In the real world, the good, smart people have more sense than to run for politics. Same with the CBC TV show. The kids today are savvy to that and didn't apply in droves! And can you blame them? Look at the panel:

Prime Minister Paul Martin, most recently nicknamed Mr. Dithers...he was our best Finance Minister, but a weak Prime Minister. You want HIM judging you?

Prime Minister Brian Mulroney...umm Airbus/Schreiber anyone? Not to mention his tax increases during a recession. Oh and that huge farewell tour across the country and around the world at taxpayers expense. Which didn't help...

...Prime Minister Kim Campbell who followed him. The country hated the Progressive Conservatives by now, and poor Kim didn't have a chance. It didn't help that she was the PC leader during the election campaign that used awful pictures of Jean Chrétien, highlighting his Bell's Palsy condition. She lasted about 10 minutes.

Prime Minister Joe Clark...poor old Joe Who. Running at the time when the charismatic Pierre Trudeau was just past his prime, but still the greatest leader in the minds of many Canadians. And poor Joe didn't even have a chin. He talked about privatizing PetroCan (unpopular at the time, but smart thinking). He did beat Trudeau, and lasted about 100 days.

So there you have it...contestants who are stupid because the smart ones didn't enter. Judges whose reputations as leaders are dubious at best. But at least that sexy senior señor Alex Trebek will be hosting...

...I think I'll give it a pass. I'm still so disgusted with our country's leaders over the past year that I'm finding it hard to believe there is a leader among us at all. The three Fs, give me strength! I have another F-word for PMS, but this is a family website.

Thanks and good luck.

Please don't sue me.
