Yesterday I left all you dedicated Pigdump readers hanging, wondering if the great Bat exorcism was a success. Well. Ease your collective minds, the bat is free and the cottage is free of bats (for now anyway.)

The old Bugs Bunny Hocus-Pocus trick didn't work, so instead my 74-year-old father, armed with a butterfly net, got the little sucker off the wall. While wearing those things you put on your hands when you take hot things out of the oven (sometimes called "oven mitts"), I secured the net on the Megawheels section of the Globe newspaper, had my Mum open the door, and threw everything out onto the deck. The little guy escaped from the net and everyone was happy.

So it's a happy ending. Let's just hope our little bat friend puts word out to his buddies that my cottage is a bad place to hang around in (heh heh, get it?) Taunted by a cat, set upon by a white-haired man, bat-handled with oven mitts. Nope, the Pigdump hotel is no place for a bat.
