Search engine optimization (SEO)

SEO marketing services

Bear with me.

For the past month or so, I have been learning a lot about marketing and online marketing services. I didn't mean to, it just happened. Like a drive-by smattering of verbal diarrhea. Like a workplace accident. A viral campaign against my moral fibre. A strategic, multi-channel attack on my senses. I can write value propositions. I have answered RFPs. I have written technical papers on Squids (UNIX caching systems), on load balancing performance and infrastructure durability during heavy burst periods.

And I have learned a lot about Search Engine Optimization, or SEO as we like to call it in the online retail world (especially in the marketing services channel of the online retail world of outsourced e-commerce solutions.) There are free and easy ways to get a high rating for your website in the Googles, Yahoos and Excites. Just take a look at the nitty gritty of this page, for instance.

Let's pretend I'm a freelance Search Engine Optimization (SEO) writer and I want people to come to Pigdump and hire me to write their SEO-enhanced content. First thing I would do is make sure the body text has keyword density. That is, repeat the words I want to show up in the Google search (like SEO, marketing services etc.) I would also put them in bold tags once or twice. Search engines and webcrawlers really like SEO specialists doing their work for them!

Then, I would optimize my image. The image I am using on this page (with all the prominent keywords) is named "seo_marketing_services.jpg." I've also given it an alt tag: alt="SEO marketing services" Get it? I've peppered this page with tons of redundant words and phrases, but in a friendly way, in hopes that when someone searches for a search engine optimization expert, or searches for an agency that has best practices in SEO as part of their marketing services, Pigdump should show up.

Which makes me laugh. Because it's so silly. And free. And you shouldn't have to pay for it. But I've used the word free here so someone is going to come looking for me! And in the end, it's all about words. Words sell. I don't care how flashy or cutting edge technology you are... the T in HTML stands for TEXT. Text-messaging. Chat. Email. It's all words.

Umm, that's all.

This SEO marketing services specialist says thanks and good luck. For free.
