While driving back from Pigdump's northern office last weekend, I heard a story on the radio. Three men drowned in Rice Lake. Oh jeeze, always some rambunctious kids playing with their rented seadoos. Happens every long weekend. Turns out it was 3 adult men trying to dislodge their houseboat from the mucky bottom of the shore. I didn't think about it again.

Until yesterday when a colleague's obsession with the story got me thinking. They were in 2 feet of water. They were 20 meters from the shore. There were 5 adults on board watching. Oh sure, there were weeds. Oh sure, one of the poor fellas weighed 300 pounds. But all 3 of them go down? Couldn't someone have thrown a rope or one of them floaty ring thingies?

How do 3 people drown in 2 feet of water? Or was it murder? The ladies on board maybe wanted their hubbies out of the way? Or perhaps it was a suicide pact to hide a trifecta tryst between the men. Weeds, muck, a bad heart, sure, but all 3? Read it for yourself. You too can share this obsession.
